We are seeking talented and motivated interns with a background in physics, applied mathematics, numerical methods, or related computational fields. At Braid, we are pioneering technology that leverages advanced simulation and mathematical modeling to solve the complex challenges of physics-based shape finding and automated engineering design.

As an intern, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of experts, including physicists, mathematicians, AI researchers, and software engineers. This is a unique opportunity to deepen your expertise, contribute to groundbreaking projects, and gain hands-on experience in building core simulation technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality software, with the support of fellow researchers and software engineers, that addresses physics-based simulation and modeling challenges.
• Contribute to the research, development, and testing of numerical methods and physics solvers for our core platform.
• Assist in implementing and optimizing mathematical models for physical phenomena.
• Strengthen your software development skills while working with modern computational tools and frameworks.

About You

We look for the following skills and experience for this role:

• You are an undergraduate or graduate student with a strong background in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with a focus on numerical methods and simulation.
• You have experience writing robust and performant software in Python and/or C++.
• You are keen to apply your theoretical knowledge to real-world problems in the domains of automated engineering design.
• You’re excited by the prospect of working with a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team based in Tokyo, Japan.
• As a plus, you have prior experience with High Performance Computing (HPC), finite element analysis (FEA), or non-linear optimization.
